Comedy to premiere June 28 after ‘True Blood’
HBO has set June 28 as the launch date for its comedy series “Hung.”
Skein will bow in the 10 p.m. slot behind vampire drama “True Blood,” which returns for its second season on June 14.
Starring Thomas Jane (”61*,” “The Punisher”) as a well-endowed man who looks to cash in on his assets, “Hung” will see a 10-episode run. First episode will be 45 minutes long, the others, 30 minutes.
Jane Adams and Anne Heche co-star.
The pilot was directed by Alexander Payne, who won an Oscar for writing “Sideways” and was nominated for directing “Sideways” and penning “Election.”
Payne, Dmitry Lipkin, Colette Burson, Michael Rosenberg, John Morayniss and Noreen Halpern are exec producers.
I’m going to say yes, but feel free to argue with me…
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thomas Jane (The Punisher) has been cast as the lead in an hour-long HBO pilot called Hung: “The dark comedy pilot, directed by Oscar winner Alexander Payne, centers on Ray (Jane), a well-endowed struggling middle-age high school basketball coach who figures out a way to use his best asset.”
So, I’m right, right? Hung is the best TV show title ever? Or maybe I’m just giddy thinking that if/when the pilot go to series and becomes a hit, I will forever get to be forced to identify the actor as “Thomas Jane (Hung)…”
I’m also looking forward to the punny headlines. (If the ratings hold up: WELL ‘HUNG’) Write your own headline after the jump. Just keep it clean-ish.

Naegle lines up her first project for pay cabler

New HBO Entertainment president Sue Naegle has already lined up her first project at the pay cabler, and it’s sizable.
“Hung” revolves around, ahem, a well-endowed man who figures out a way to take advantage of his physical gift.
Dark comedy comes from Colette Burson and “The Riches” creator Dmitry Lipkin, as well as Blueprint Entertainment’s Michael Rosenberg. HBO is currently developing the script, which comes with a significant penalty attached.
“Hung” opens on a man who was once a high school sports legend, but is now plodding along in middle age as a struggling father and high school basketball coach. His luck begins to change, however, when he figures out a way to use his best asset.
